Valerie and Jaimie's Wedding

It was a beautiful day for this wedding. Not to cool not too hot. The bride and groom are such a fun couple. They were up for just about anything with poses. The day went by so fast. I love shooting weddings. And I think this is my favorite one so far (of course I probably say that about all of my weddings).

I had the pleasure of photogaphing this beautiful family at Ault Park. The lighting was my favorite so far. And I think I have a new favorite photo (of a child that is not mine anyways). The older daughter was full of lots of energy that lead to some pretty vibrant posing. She even asked to have her picture taken. And at the end of the night when we were all done she was still ready for more. Oh, to have the energy of a 4 year old. Her baby sister (18 months) on the other hand gave me quite the workout (and this is why I much prefer photography over sitting in an office any day). I wore my pedometer to track my steps but I think it was a little off. Is it cheating if I count a photo session as my workout when toddlers are involved? I still count my blessings every day that my stumbling steps have lead me to where I am today in this wonderful journey of photography.

Model J

I had my first real try at model photography tonight. I have to admit I really liked it. Now, I absolutely love photographing babies and toddlers even when they run from me but every now and then it is nice to have a stationary subject that is willing to make eye contact. Since I'm not accustomed to model photography I spent the morning perusing other photographer's websites and I got out a piece of paper and drew some stick figures of poses I liked. Of course my real life model looked much better than my stick people. She was a whole lot prettier too. I'll have to scan and post my pretty drawings. There may be a calling for professional stick figure artist. Do you think there is a such a thing? I'd like to think so. But for now you can check out this model in the flesh...or on your computer screen at least.

Jamie & Val E Session

I have to admit I absolutely LOVE doing engagement sessions. This was my 2nd engagement session this week. Who doesn't love being around 2 people completely enamored with eachother!!! The lighting was gorgeous. There is an old house that sits next to the playground that I think is one of my new official favorite spots. The bride to be was just full of eccentric expressions and playful poses. She kept her fiance laughing. Laughter lets love linger = LLLL. Ha, ha...I just made that up; don't steal it. : )

E Session James & Aimee

It has been quite awhile since I've done an engagement session but this was a lot of fun. We started off at the park where James proposed to Aimee...just a subtle little park with some pretty flowers, a nice arbor and some benches. They were even willing to try some of the poses I had drawn on a piece of paper (stick figures and all) of stuff I really wanted to try. Then with a race against the sunset we headed to Ault Park where I haven't shot in years. I fell in love with that park...again. I am going to make it a point to do some more sesions there. The arches are an amazing backdrop to compliment an already adorable couple. : )
I didn't have too much time with the sun going down and James yawning every 5 minutes but we got a lot of great shots. Oh, and I love hearing engagement stories...from the simply sweet to the charismatically complex. I told myself I was going to bed at 11 p.m. tonight. It is now nearing 2 a.m. and I just can't seem to pull myself away from editing these. Photoshop isn't as scary as I thought it was.
